Top Chest Exercises: Try this workout to build a bigger chest

A bigger chest isn't built by accident. It's built by pressing through a full range of motion, at sufficient volume, with a progression you can actually recover from. Most trainees fail at the third variable: they get strong, then stall, then train harder instead of smarter.

02Set the volume, not the pain

For most lifters, 12–18 working sets per week spread across two sessions is the sweet spot. Any more and recovery eats your gains; any less and the stimulus disappears into maintenance territory.

03The movement order matters

Start with the big press — flat or slight incline — when you're fresh and strong. Progress to incline dumbbell work for the upper fibres, then finish with a fly or cable variation for the stretch. Heavy to light, structural to isolation. That's the whole algorithm.

04My go-to chest session

Incline barbell press — 4 x 6–8. Flat dumbbell press — 4 x 8–10. Incline dumbbell fly — 3 x 10–12. Cable crossover (high to low) — 3 x 12–15. Rest 90–180 seconds on the big movements, 45–60 on the isolation work.

Do that twice a week with honest progression and your pressing numbers — and your shirt — will tell the story.

TRAINED. TRACKED. TRANSFORMED.
