TRX: One of the Best Training Modalities and Why You Should Use It More

TRX — Total Resistance eXercise — was born from a Navy SEAL's belt and a parachute. Randy Hetrick needed a full-body strength tool on deployment, and what he built scales from total beginner to elite athlete by changing a single variable: the angle of your body relative to the anchor.

02Why I program it

Three reasons. First, the instability forces your core and stabilizers to do honest work while you press or row. Second, it's infinitely scalable — I can regress a push-up to standing and progress it to a suspended pike in the same session. Third, it's brutally portable; my online clients can train with it anywhere.

03Where it fits

I use TRX as accessory work, not as the main lift. Rows for the mid-back, suspended push-ups for chest with a loaded stretch, fallouts for the core. Two sessions a week is plenty — it's a tool in the toolbox, not the whole workshop.

If you've been skipping the straps at the back of your gym, give them a month of honest work. Your back will feel different by week two.

TRAINED. TRACKED. TRANSFORMED.
