Lifespan: the number of years you're alive. Healthspan: the number of years you're alive and able to do the things that matter — carry the groceries, play with your kids, hike the thing, stand up off the floor without a plan. Most of the fitness industry optimizes the first number and quietly neglects the second.
02Strength is a retirement plan
The single best predictor of independence in old age is your strength level in middle age. Muscle is your metabolic reserve — it's the currency your body spends when life gets expensive, whether that's illness, injury, or just time.
03What I do about it
I train old-school basics — squats, hinges, presses, carries — because they build the body your 70-year-old self will live in. Mobility work isn't a warm-up garnish; it's maintenance on the joints you plan to keep. And conditioning keeps the engine efficient.
Train like the people you love are counting on you being here, and being useful, for a long time. That's the whole philosophy in one line.
TRAINED. TRACKED. TRANSFORMED.
